Tracy Robson joined the Des Moines Catholic Workers in January, 2009. She is a recent graduate of Simpson College, graduating in December of 2008 with a double major in math and Spanish, and minors in secondary education and biology.
Tracy grew up in Scranton, Iowa, on a farm operated by her father, Allen, and mother, Cheryl. She graduated from Jefferson-Scranton High School in 2004 and entered Simpson shortly thereafter.
Tracy's decision to join the community came after several years of volunteering at the Worker, motivated by a study-abroad experience in Nicaragua in 2006. In addition, after graduation, Tracy felt a call to live simply and give everything she has to a city that she loves dearly, Des Moines. She feels that the Catholic Worker movement epitomizes the teachings of Jesus, which is something she was, and still is, struggling to follow.
As far as her future, Tracy really has no idea! She may become a high school educator some day, may eventually attend seminary (if forced to by God...), may continue on to graduate school, or may be a Catholic Worker for life! Only time will tell; but, for now, she is just trying to be present and live life to the fullest.
"...to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men."
Titus 3:1-2
