Sean Megan was born in 1975 and raised in Iowa City, Iowa (the home of the Hawkeyes) and attended Iowa City West High School. Since high school Sean has lived in several regions of the U.S. and worked at a range of jobs, from modeling/acting, working at a video store and on a Western cattle ranch. Sean became a part of the Des Moines Catholic Worker in August of 2009 as a part of a strong desire to be an effective advocate for fairness and justice for all people and to learn how to live non-violently. Sean is deeply grateful for the gift of living and working among the poor, homeless, and forgotten members of our community. He hopes that his life experiences can help himself and others learn the lessons of class and privilege in society.  Sean's mother (Mona Shaw, also a DMCW community member) is a lifelong human rights activist. Sean's father, David Megan, is retired from a 30-plus-year law enforcement career and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Sean lives at Lazarus House with his wife Ashley and daughter Wrigley.
