Stand Up until the War
Is Shut Down
An invitation to join the March 19 Occupation and Shutdown of a US Military Recruiting Office in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 19, 2008
Plans are underway to have an occupation of a Des Moines-
We plan to shut down and/ or interrupt military recruitment at a Des Moines military recruiting office on March 19th, the same date the war in Iraq began five years ago. We intend to ask all those involved in military recruitment as well as passersby else to stop and think about what we are doing, i.e. recruiting young men and women to participate and risk their lives in a war effort that, as Pope John Paul II said its inception, is "unjust, immoral and illegal."
It is our hope that others in Iowa will also join us in occupying military recruiting offices across the state on March 19th.
If you do not have a local opportunity to join in protest of the continuation of this national shame, you are welcome to join us in Des Moines.
